What is Cash on Delivery (COD)?
Cash on delivery (COD), sometimes called collect on delivery, is the sale of goods by mail order where payment is made on delivery rather than in advance.
If the goods are not paid for, they are returned to the seller.
Advantage of Cash on Delivery (COD)?
The advantages of COD for online or mail order retailers are:
- The customer does not need to own a credit card to purchase
- Impulse purchases may increase as payment is not due at the time of ordering
- The credibility of retailers may be increased because the consumer only has to pay when the item is delivered
The principal disadvantage for retailers is that many more orders will be returned as buyers are less committed to the purchase than if they had paid in advance.
How courier companies handle Cash on Delivery (COD) parcel?
We sell everything via Cash on Delivery (Buyer Trusted Option).
The basic rule of every courier company in handling COD is …
Sealed items or packages cannot be opened unless the payment is made to the Delivery Agent. The Delivery Agent shall not take the item back if the seal has been opened.
What is the basic problem and solution of Cash on Delivery (COD)?
Issue: It has usually been noticed that some buyers refuse product delivery as they are not been allowed by Courier Agent to open the sealed item before payment clearance. Basically this type of scenario occures when there is communication gap between buyer and delivery agent.
In actual no courier company allows pre-checking of product before payment is handed over to the delivery agent. It’s against their rule and policies while handling Cash on Delivery consignment.
Solution: It is always better to pay the amount and take the parcel. Product can be checked anytime afterwards and if you later find out that there is any issue with the product bought, you can request a return by calling our Customer Service (081-286-77-00).
